Rodrigo Aguayo Romero
I am a Psychology Associate working under the supervision of John Parkhurst, PhD. I obtained my Ph.D. in Clinical-Community Psychology from The George Washington University. I work with a diverse range of clients, including adolescents and adults, primarily providing individual therapy in a supportive and collaborative environment for personal growth.
As a queer Latinx individual, I specialize in providing affirming and culturally competent care for the LGBTQ+ and transgender communities, while also serving the broader community by creating a safe space for individuals to explore their identities, relationships, and mental health. My approach is centered around Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and I address a broad array of themes, including anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship issues, and acculturation difficulties, as well as support for those navigating issues related to discrimination and social stressors. My key areas of expertise include gender-affirming support, LGBTQ+ affirmative therapy, and HIV/AIDS-related mental health.
Committed to accessibility and inclusivity, I provide bilingual therapy services in English and Spanish, creating a welcoming environment for Spanish-speaking clients. With extensive experience in clinical practice, research, and leadership, I am dedicated to empowering clients and communities through intersectional and cultural humility approaches that recognize the unique challenges faced by individuals with multiple marginalized identities. You can also check out my published research articles (http://bit.ly/3W7IMDv). I am currently accepting new individual clients and invite you to reach out with any questions or for a free 15-minute consultation. I offer both in-person and virtual appointments.
