Evan Fishell
I am a board-certified Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) providing both in person and virtual therapy within Washington, D.C. I work mainly with adults navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, and identity exploration.
My belief is that therapy works best when it’s a collaborative process – one where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to take an active role in your own growth. My hope is always to create a dialogue with my clients so that they can provide input to help shape the therapeutic process to meet their own needs.
I work to create a space where clients feel safe enough to explore challenges, while also noticing and building upon the strengths and resilience they already carry. I value authenticity in the therapy room and aim to offer clients honest, supportive insights. I also believe in recognizing the impact that culture and systems can have on individuals, and work with clients to integrate that into care.
Professionally I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Psychodynamic Therapy. While these modalities form my foundation, I strive to remain flexible and responsive to each client, and adapt my methodology to what best supports their unique needs and ever changing circumstances.
My master’s degree is in Rehabilitation Counseling, which has given me a strong foundation in working with individuals navigating disability and chronic illness. I also have a special passion for working with members of the LGBTQ+ community and am committed to providing inclusive, affirming care.
