Aleena Griffiths
I am a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) in Washington, D.C., where I offer both in person and virtual therapy. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Indiana University, and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Rochester. I work primarily with adults struggling with adjustment challenges, depression, anxiety, and identity exploration.
I believe in a holistic and collaborative approach to therapy, where we work together to alleviate your mental stress. Honesty and authenticity are guiding values in my practice, and I aim to provide a warm, welcoming space for you to share whatever is on your mind. I am flexible in terms of communication and strive to meet you where you’re at, whether you just need someone to listen to you or whether you want a more dynamic, interactive style of therapy.
My upbringing in New Zealand allows me to bring a multi-cultural lens to my practice and to empathize with people from diverse backgrounds. My experience in music performance and education also provide me with unique perspectives on anxious, perfectionist, and high-achieving individuals.
I draw from several therapeutic approaches, including Emotion-Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Together, these allow us to explore the ways in which your past affects your present, and to identify and manage some of your overwhelming emotions and feelings.
I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation, so please reach out via the contact button below to see if we are a good fit.
