Mark C. Covington Jr., Ph.D., completed his Doctorate degree in Counseling Education and Supervision from George Washington University. Dr. Covington is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the District of Columbia and certified by the National Board of Counselors (NBCC). Dr. Covington also holds a Master’s degree in Counseling from George Washington University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Wake Forest University. He has served in various roles, as a therapist, supervisor researcher, and adjunct professor. Dr. Covington has experience in providing addiction counseling, counseling for Anxiety and Depression, PTSD, and Mood disorders, conducting assessments, group therapy, and case management.
Currently, Dr. Covington is in private practice at Parkhurst & Associates working with adults, and couples. He utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapies (CBT)- specifically, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) in practice. He believes that people are doing the best that they can with the skills they have and finding more flexibility in their lives is pertinent to the process in psychotherapy, and to live more holistically.
