Congratulations on starting a journey of self-care. Whatever the reasons you may be seeking therapy, awareness and action are the first steps (and sometimes the hardest steps).
About me and my work…
I received my MSW from the University of Maryland School of Social Work and started my work in the addictions field at The University of Maryland Medical Center on the Substance Abuse Consultation Team. The team provided inpatient interventions/assessments for patients contemplating there use of substance and readiness for change.
I then became a Commissioned Officer in the United States Public Health Service (USPHS). During my time with UPHS, I led crisis interventions and provided psychiatric first aide and counseling to those affected by the natural or man-made disasters.
After 10 years with the USPHS I returned to my work in addictions with The Kolmac Clinic’s Intensive Outpatient Program. Here I facilitated individual and group therapy as well as case management. During my time there I established an LGBTQIA+ group and provided guided yoga with mindfulness meditations for patients.
Most recently, I worked for Whitman-Walker Health as a Psychotherapist providing mental health services to primarily LGBTQIA+ individuals, groups, couples and families.
Below you will find my “Areas of Specialty.” No one type of therapy fits every individual. This can be thought of as a mental health menu we can explore together and see what is the right fit for you and your current needs.
I look forward to speaking with you and perhaps walking with you on a part of your journey.
