I believe that our lives are made up of all of the relationships we have – relationships with our significant other, with our families, our friends, with our co-workers, and – the most important relationship of all – the one we have with ourselves. Often, issues we are having in our lives are tied to one or more of these relationships. Therefore, addressing issues in our relationships and how they impact our lives is an important aspect of therapy.
I am dedicated to working with individuals one-on-one or with their significant other and/or family members as they seek personal growth, self-awareness, and insight. In addition to expertise in the areas of intimacy, communication, and commitment, I am skilled at helping people work through difficult life transitions, such as divorce, co-parenting, and loss. I also have extensive training and experience in providing individual therapy to children, ranging from toddlers to young adults, to address various challenges and needs.
I have experience working with individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, serious and persistent mental illness, and sexual dysfunction. I have been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Systems Theory, Solution-focused Therapy, and Mindfulness practices, and use an integrative approach that is based on each individual or family’s needs.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Elon University, and obtained my Masters of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University. I am fully licensed as a marriage and family therapist in the state of Virginia.
